Fighting, Part II

When we last left our heroine, she was precariously perched at the edge of a potential chocolate chip cookie catastrophe. Did she do her planned workouts? Did she go to McDonald's and buy massive quantities of cookies?

I did my weights and the 3 mile run, and I didn't get cookies. I thought about them the entire time I was on the treadmill and debated whether or not one cookie was worth the trip. The more I debated, the hungrier I got. I wound up eating two bowls of cereal and a sandwich- more calories than if I'd eaten the damn cookies in the first place. At least they were useful calories; there was fiber and protein and all that good stuff, and not just sugar and butter. But it was still irksome that I blew it like that.

In other news, I have a 5 mile run scheduled for tonight. Tomorrow, my running group is holding an informational meeting for first-time marathoners. Hopefully I'll get some new tips.

Stop beating yourself up!You are amazing, when are you going to realize that?!?! Just a question - what happens when you do give into the craving? Can you have the one cookie and move on without beating yourself up? Because either way you are dragging yourself through undeserved mud - you are so strong, beautiful, and accomplished so much! Deprivation sucks and I certainly don't want to lose sleep over a cookie or not eat a cookie for the rest of my life! And you freaking ran 13 or was it 14 miles this week, ran another 3 and lifted weights! You are doing wonderfully, one cookie will not put back the 100 pound you lost... go a little easier on yourself, you are worth it!! (that's my mantra these days!!!)

You tell her, Deanna!

Morgan, if it's worth knowing, I'm struggling with the same darn thing. Seems like putting in more miles trying to get ready for KC makes me hungrier and hungrier. I totally blew several days of relatively clean eating by having bowl after bowl of homemade ice cream last night. It was pure bliss while I was eating it, but then realized that it was definately not the smartest choice I'd made in a while. Today's a new day, though.
